Dipping my toes in the water...

So, it's been a busy few days.

I managed to get Kouta's Sex Lab: Tentacle Beast submitted to Smashwords, PubIt and Amazon. The experience was interesting.

Of the services, Smashwords was the simplest to work with. Their style guide pretty much boils down to the principle of KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid. Don't use fancy fonts, don't use weird formatting marks. They want a .doc that's been stripped down to the bare essentials. I do all my work in Scrivener, which handles everything with .rtf documents, so it's a simple matter to pop open an office software program and just convert the finished document to an MS Word format. I don't actually need to do any additional work.

They also provide a free ISBN number, and books posted to Smashwords go live for sale pretty fast. As a result, my new routine will involve posting everything there first in order to snag an ISBN.

Amazon is a little less intuitive. They'll take a whole slew of different files, and I found the style guide a little intimidating. They also take a lot longer to vet a book. Their preview feature is neat, though. They let you see what it would look like in different kinds of Kindle, so you can be nice and sure your document will look the way you want it to.

PubIt is a little bit more bare bones than either, but it features a neat Nook previewer that is similar to the Amazon Kindle feature.

I tried to sign up with Kobo, but they had trouble with my bank details. Haven't been back to figure it out yet. I plan to try again soon. I assume it's a very simple mistake that I'm simply too tired to deal with.

I also put out a second story: Tentacle Sorority: Initiation. Just got it uploaded to the same three vendors. I think I now have the whole thing down to a science: my Scrivener project files are all tidy, I know where to get cover images I like. Getting Tentacle Sorority up was much easier.

... and before you ask, I'm not actually a tentacle fetishist. I love them, but my tastes are pretty broad. They got first dibs because I wanted to begin my smut career with something that I felt embodied the values of the Internet. To me, that's tentacles. :)

As I move forward, I want to write about a wide variety of things, including more slimy hentai monsters. The hope is to play around with a number of ideas. See what you guys like. See what I like writing about best. Hopefully become a better author overall.

Anyway, thanks for reading.

Introduction

Hello to my purely hypothetical fanbase. :)

I have decided to try my hand at writing erotica. This blog is a space for me to talk about what I've done, what I'm working on and otherwise connect with you all.

Right this minute, I'm working on getting my first short story up and available:

More on that after I've gotten it submitted to various places online.  Just needed a placeholder so I could link the story back to a blog and hopefully meet more of you. :)
